Youth Workshops and Short Courses:

Taking part in one of TrickFilm Animation's short courses or workshops, young people are given the fantastic opportunity to learn the basic and fundamental skills of animation, while gaining a greater understanding of the filmmaking process as a whole from industry professionals. While animation is the main focus of the workshops, participants will have the chance to undertake and learn about other roles in film production such as; Writer, Director and Producer.

Over their time on the course, participants will learn about every phase of film production. Starting with pre-production and their initial ideas, where their imagination can run wild as they learn about ‘brainstorming’ and developing ideas as part of a crew. To having to think more practically and overcoming challenges so that they are able to take their concepts to a complete short film. They do this by having the time to write the scripts, designing models, make puppets, build sets and draw story boards before starting Production and actually animating the film.

The participants are given the freedom to choose what style of animation to use when bringing their ideas to life. Some examples so far have included; Drawn Animation, Pixilation, Claymation, Cutout, Sand, Lego and many more.

Animation workshops available for all ages and abilities.

The days involve making a short film in a small group (crew), from initial ideas, writing the script, making the characters, storyboarding, building sets and animating your film.

It will be a fun relaxed day where adults can rediscover their creativity while producing a short film to take home. Animation is a great way to spend a family day and after the course you should have the confidence and basic skills to go home and make more!

On the course we will learn an animation programme that can be downloaded from the internet for small cost and enable you to carry on animating! We will then use plasticine and objects from around the house and bring them to life.

Team Building Days:

Work with Trickfilm to have a team day tailored to your individual business objectives. With Andy bringing animation expertise and Johanna adding bespoke learning elements your day will not only be fun, it will develop your team too.

With businesses such as Midcounties Cooperative & BIBA amongst our customers. We tailor all of our corporate days to meet your needs. Initial consultation with Andy & Johanna will lead to a day(s) truly unique for you and your business.

Andy is also available for speaking events, be that after dinner speaking to events and conferences. Just talk to us about your event and Andy will deliver an interesting and innovative talk using his animation career of over 20 years as the foundation.

Education:

Schools, Colleges & Universities

Trickfilm run talks and workshops at Schools, Universities and Film Festivals around the world. We also offer Animation Workshops, talks and provide Teacher Training in Animation.

Primary Schools - In consultation with the teacher an Animation Day can be incorporated in to the class themes and topics and form part of the curriculum for Key stage 1 and 2. Working together in a group the animation process can build confidence and release creativity as well as supporting their given theme as the children see their creations come to life on the screen.

Key Stage 3 and 4 - Animation can be used in a variety of ways to encourage learning and make it fun, based on the National Curriculum. In consultation with the teachers we can adapt our workshops to fit in with projects, themes and topics of each individual class.
